Passport Services Closer to Algerians: Consulate Announces Three-State Tour

Algeria Gate: The Consulate General of Algeria in New York is moving closer to the national community established in the United States by organising several consular sessions devoted to biometric passport applications. Mobile stations will be deployed between late October and mid-November 2026 in Illinois, Massachusetts and Florida.

According to a consulate statement relayed on 19 September, the first session is scheduled in Chicago, Illinois, on 29th, 30th and 31st October 2026. Consular teams will then travel to Boston, Massachusetts, on November 6th and 7th, before a third operation planned in Florida on November 13th and 14th 2026. Algerians residing in neighbouring states will also be able to benefit from these visits.

A mandatory step before travelling

These sessions will mainly allow Algerian nationals to have their photograph taken and fingerprints recorded — necessary steps for the issuance of a biometric passport.

The consulate nevertheless reminds applicants that those wishing to benefit from this operation must imperatively submit their passport application file before travelling. The announced deadline for sending files is set at October 15th 2026.

Passport applications may be accompanied, when necessary, by a request for renewal of consular registration or a first registration. The consulate’s normal procedure moreover provides that Algerian citizens residing permanently abroad must be registered with their consular representation before a passport is issued.

For applicants aged 12 and over, physical presence is required for the biometric formalities. The consulate’s official website specifies that children under 12 are exempt from personal appearance for fingerprinting.

Attention: no other consular services on site

The consulate also insists on an important point: these mobile sessions will be exclusively devoted to biometric operations linked to the passport. Agents will therefore not process visa applications, powers of attorney or other consular services on site.

Likewise, a national who presents themselves directly in Chicago, Boston or Florida without having previously submitted their file risks being unable to complete the fingerprinting.

This initiative aims to facilitate the procedures of Algerians who sometimes live several hundred or even several thousand kilometres from New York. The Consulate General’s jurisdiction currently covers 25 American states, including Illinois, Massachusetts and Florida.

With these mobile biometric stations, the nationals concerned will thus be able to complete the step requiring their physical presence without systematically having to travel to the consulate headquarters in New York.

Algeria Ranks 4th in Africa for Seaborne Crude Oil Exports

Algeria Ranks 4th in Africa for Seaborne Crude Oil Exports

Algeria Gate: Algeria is confirming its weight on the African energy market. According to data from the Energy Research Unit, the country ranked as the fourth African exporter of crude oil transported by sea, with an average of 380,000 barrels per day between March and August 2026.

Over this period, Algeria came behind Libya, Nigeria and Angola, three other major producers on the continent. This ranking underlines the important place occupied by Algerian oil in international energy exchanges, notably thanks to the country’s port infrastructure and export capacities.

Rising production

This performance comes in a context marked by an increase in national production. During the second quarter of 2026, Algerian crude oil production reached approximately 980,000 barrels per day. Including other petroleum liquids, the country’s total production rose to nearly 1.45 million barrels per day. These volumes enable Algeria to maintain a significant presence on the African and Mediterranean oil markets while meeting part of the demand from its foreign partners.

380,000 barrels exported every day by sea

Between March and August 2026, Algerian crude exports transported by ship therefore averaged 380,000 barrels daily. This figure is particularly important since maritime transport constitutes one of the main means of shipping crude oil to international markets. With this fourth place in Africa, Algeria positions itself among the continent’s main crude suppliers, alongside the major oil powers that are Nigeria, Libya and Angola.

Energy remains a strategic sector for Algeria

Hydrocarbons continue to play a central role in the Algerian economy and in the country’s commercial exchanges. The production increase observed in 2026 could allow Algeria to consolidate its export capacities, in an international context where the security of energy supplies remains a major issue.

The ranking of maritime exports also highlights the competition between the main African producers, as several countries seek to increase their production and attract more investment in the energy sector.

For Algeria, the challenge will now be to maintain its production levels, strengthen its export capacities and continue investments in the oil sector, while in parallel developing natural gas and new energy pathways.

Algeria chops off the UAE’s propaganda arm… Sky News Arabia kicked out

Algeria chops off the UAE’s propaganda arm… Sky News Arabia kicked out

Algeria Gate: Algeria has once again proven that its tolerance for media excess has a clear limit when national sovereignty and collective identity are at stake. The decision to withdraw accreditation from the Sky News Arabia bureau in Algiers was no routine administrative measure. It was an official declaration that foreign-funded media arms, especially those bankrolled by the UAE micro-state, will find no fertile ground in Algeria for pushing their dubious agendas.

Algeria chops off the UAE’s propaganda arm… Sky News Arabia kicked out

The channel, widely recognized as the media face of that malevolent little state, did not content itself with “non-neutral” coverage of Algerian affairs. It threw its screens wide open to voices delivering openly hostile rhetoric against the country, in a calculated and transparent media campaign aimed at tearing the social fabric, sowing division, and attacking national identity.

From coverage to targeting

This is no longer a professional disagreement or a legitimate difference of journalistic opinion. The channel crossed every red line when it chose to become an active partner in an escalating campaign targeting the Algerian state and its foreign policy.

From Washington, its correspondents leveled serious, baseless accusations against Algeria, speaking of supposed “discomfort” in the United States over Algerian positions, and worse, darkly hinting at Algerian support for extremist groups in the Sahel. This is a grave charge that collapses the moment it is measured against the facts and against Algeria’s steadfast record in the fight against terrorism.

The channel also waded into the Western Sahara file with a style that distorts the positions of international parties, framing the dispute as some kind of “American-Algerian” quarrel. Everyone knows Washington’s publicly stated position; voiced by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, is clear and leaves no room for fabricated interpretation. In short, the channel does not cover the news; it invents it. It does not report reality; it re-engineers it to the specifications of its operators.

Fabricating scenarios and shredding the duty of neutrality

Sky News Arabia has become a glaring example of what media becomes when it abandons the profession of informing and turns into a tool of political score-settling. It invents scenarios of “fundamental” differences between Washington and Algiers that exist nowhere except in Abu Dhabi studios. It strips itself of the most basic professional standards and tramples the duty of neutrality with such crude abandon that it becomes difficult to speak of “journalism” at all.

The sharp professional rebuttal delivered by Algerian journalist Fadila Souissi to the channel’s Washington correspondent, by simply pointing to the content of the joint statement, illustrates the vast gulf between those who practice journalism with professionalism and conscience, and those who practice paid propaganda while holding a microphone and a logo.

British Sky withdraws from its Arab project

The channel’s shaky record does not end with the closure of its Algiers office. The British parent network Sky had already withdrawn from the joint news project with the UAE over the channel’s coverage of the war in Sudan, which drew widespread criticism and accusations of denying genocide and whitewashing the violations committed since the conflict erupted in mid-April 2023. The British partner concluded that continuing the association meant abandoning any professional responsibility.

Even if the commercial name “Sky News Arabia” survives under a multi-year brand-licensing agreement, the operational and financial reality remains firmly in one place: Abu Dhabi, under the investment arm controlled by UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The supposed neutrality of a platform launched in 2010 to “compete” with major Arab channels was never more than a thin veil draped over a funding source and an openly political objective.

“Dounia Park”: The Emirati Project Tebboune Challenged as a Minister Despite Abu Dhabi Pressure and Oligarchic Influence

“Dounia Park”: The Emirati Project Tebboune Challenged as a Minister Despite Abu Dhabi Pressure and Oligarchic Influence

Algeria Gate: In another episode of the series of leaks about the chronology of Emirati hostility toward Algeria, we pause at a pivotal stage and take you back to the years 2006 to 2015, when an Emirati lobby, hiding behind the record of “friends of the late President Bouteflika,” sought to dominate the levers of the Algerian economy and manipulate land and real estate.

Abdelmadjid Tebboune as Minister of Housing in successive Algerian governments, confronted what was being cooked up and refused to grant a license to the Emirati company Emaar, close to the ruling family in the UAE, between 2008 and 2015, to implement and construct an expansion of the Dounia Park project in the Algerian capital.

On paper the project was valued at $500 million, but its real returns, which were to be transferred in hard currency to the UAE according to estimates at the time, were put at more than $5 billion. This is the reason for the current resentment of Emirati lobbies toward President Tebboune, even though the project cost Algeria losses of billions of dollars.

Tebboune, with a patriotic sense, refused to sign the construction and expansion permit for the Emirati Dounia Park project in the Algerian capital, which the company “Emaar Emirates” obtained in 2006 under suspicious circumstances and under the table, and began implementing in 2008 under a fantastical concession contract of 33 to 99 years. This is the crux of the matter.

“Dounia Park”: The Emirati Project Tebboune Challenged as a Minister Despite Abu Dhabi Pressure and Oligarchic Influence

“Dounia Park” was a suspicious Emirati investment in Algeria that was rich material for the media between 2006 and 2015. The announced investment value was 500 million euros, but the returns that were to be transferred to the UAE after Emaar obtained a loan from Algerian banks were estimated at $5 billion.

From his position as a minister in the government, Tebboune refused despite all the pressure at the highest levels. The project was frozen and then cancelled, causing the dreams of the sons of Zayed and the oligarchy that was betting on the project to control the levers of the country to evaporate.

As a reminder, in 2018 the Emirati company “Emaar” resorted to international arbitration in Washington to demand compensation from the Algerian government.
