Algeria Gate: FIFA President Gianni Infantino received a new blow on his path toward another presidential term after the Scottish Football Association announced it would not vote for his re-election in the election scheduled for 2027.
Scottish FA Chief Executive Ian Maxwell confirmed that his association would not give its vote to Infantino, in a move reflecting growing European opposition to his leadership.
The Scottish position comes amid increasing controversy over the way FIFA is managed and its commercial plans, at a time when Infantino is preparing to contest the next election, scheduled to be held in March 2027 in Morocco.
