Algeria and Berlin Reconnect with Direct Flights!

Algeria and Berlin Reconnect with Direct Flights!

Algeria Gate: CEO of Air Algérie, Hamza Benhamouda, has revealed that the company is working to implement President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s directives to expand its international flight network by launching a direct route between Algiers and the German capital, Berlin, during the current year.

The official stated, on the sidelines of the Algerian-German Business Forum, that the company had initially planned to inaugurate this route before the end of the year, specifically in November.

However, following President Tebboune’s commitment to the Algerian community in Germany to bring forward the launch date, Air Algérie has accelerated its preparations to begin operating the route before next September, God willing.

The CEO confirmed that opening the Algiers–Berlin line is part of a broader plan to expand Air Algérie’s network. This will provide more travel options for the Algerian diaspora abroad and strengthen air links with various international destinations.

He added that the expansion program will not be limited to the German route, but will also include the opening of new lines to several destinations in Asia and Africa. These will be implemented gradually during 2026 and 2027, as part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its international presence and respond to the growing demand for air transport.

Pegasus Espionage Scandal: Former Algerian Ambassador to Madrid Targeted by Morocco

Pegasus Espionage Scandal: Former Algerian Ambassador to Madrid Targeted by Morocco

Algeria Gate: A former Algerian ambassador to Madrid was targeted by Morocco using the spyware Pegasus, according to numerous foreign media outlets.

Five years after the Pegasus scandal broke, new revelations from the international press shed light on this espionage operation carried out by Moroccan services using that spyware.

As new evidence continues to incriminate Morocco, clearly demonstrating the involvement of its services (notably the DGST and foreign intelligence), the Spanish newspaper El Confidencial has released figures illustrating the scale of the operation and the names of certain targeted personalities in Spain.

El Confidencial is part of the consortium of 16 international media outlets that first exposed the scandal in July 2021.

According to the Spanish newspaper, 768 cyberattacks targeted 250 mobile phones in Spain between May 2018 and June 2019 alone. A record was even set on March 16, 2019, with 106 attacks in a single day.

Pegasus Revelations: More Light Shed on Targeted Personalities

The kingdom’s services targeted not only Moroccan journalists and opponents, but also foreign journalists, diplomats, and leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

In Spain, most of the attacked phones belonged to Moroccans and Sahrawis residing in the country, but devices belonging to Algerians and Spaniards were also affected, including that of a Guardia Civil colonel, the media summarizes.

Algeria featured prominently on the list of targeted countries. El Confidencial reveals which Algerians were spied on Spanish soil. The newspaper reports that “a handful of Algerian diplomats accredited in Spain at the end of the last decade appear in the Moroccan DGST’s directory.”

Among these targeted Algerian diplomats, the most prominent figure is Taous Feroukhi, who served as ambassador to Madrid until the end of 2019.

Thousands of phones were spied on across several countries as part of this operation. Algeria has consistently been cited as one of the most heavily targeted nations. The revelations published by El Confidencial on Thursday, July 16th, concern only the confirmed attacks on Spanish territory.

Condor Brings German Technology to Algeria

Condor Brings German Technology to Algeria

Algeria Gate: During President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, Algerian company Condor signed an industrial partnership agreement with German firm Maincor on the sidelines of the Algerian-German Economic Forum.

The agreement includes launching an industrial investment in Algeria and the transfer of German technology and expertise in the manufacturing of pipes for central heating solutions, household electrical appliances, as well as pipes used in the automotive industry.

Under this partnership, the products will be manufactured in Algeria under the German brand. They will primarily target the domestic market, with a portion of production earmarked for export to international markets. This collaboration will bolster Algeria’s national industrial capabilities and support the diversification of its exports beyond the hydrocarbons sector.

This agreement forms part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen economic cooperation between Algeria and Germany, while promoting industrial investments grounded in technology transfer. It supports the development of the national industrial base and enhances the competitiveness of Algerian products.
