Algeria Gate: In an article headlined “The clock is ticking toward a severance of diplomatic ties between Algeria and the United Arab Emirates,” the Algerian daily El Khabar claims that the “State of Evil” is once again engaging in its usual hostile behaviour.
According to the newspaper, the UAE is exploiting the devastating forest fires sweeping the country and the recent tragedy at the Mohammadia Children’s Home to spread a wave of falsehoods and fake news targeting Algeria.
El Khabar highlights that a quick glance at social media reveals the sheer scale of the disinformation campaign, including a flood of fake news and AI-generated images. According to the newspaper, the United Arab Emirates is deliberately amplifying the tragedy and attempting to hold the Algerian authorities solely responsible for the events.
However, the newspaper points out that the fires which broke out in several regions of Algeria are occurring within a broader global context shaped by the summer season and the intensifying effects of climate change, which are severely affecting both ecosystems and populations. It recalls that the entire Mediterranean basin ; spanning Europe and North Africa, is currently experiencing major wildfires amid record-high temperatures.
El Khabar emphasises that despite the extensive international coverage of the fires affecting Europe and North Africa, Algeria is facing an intensified media and disinformation campaign coming from the United Arab Emirates. The newspaper claims these campaigns are carried out with the support of a party it describes as close to Zionist ideology, as well as through its regional proxies.
Citing its sources, El Khabar reports that Algeria can no longer remain passive in the face of this escalation and repeated attacks against its interests. The newspaper emphasizes that this is particularly unacceptable given the significant progress the country has achieved in recent years on the political, economic, and social fronts.
The daily further adds that every incident becomes an opportunity for what it calls the “hub of evil” to launch attacks against everything Algerian. It accuses the UAE of spreading false and baseless information, claims that are quickly debunked.
El Khabar also argues that these campaigns are ultimately backfiring on their orchestrators, pointing to the repeated controversies and scandals that regularly surface on both Arab and international stages. The newspaper sees the growing rejection and hostility faced by this state and its leaders across parts of the Arab world, the Muslim world, and even in some Western countries as clear proof of this backlash.
El Khabar states that Abu Dhabi and its leaders, whom it labels “pro-Zionist,” have made a habit of sowing division and financing plots against all countries and actors that reject their domination and interference in internal affairs. In this context, the newspaper cites examples from Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Mali, and Niger.
According to the newspaper, the Emirates seize every opportunity to interfere in matters that do not concern them, acting in service of the agendas of what it calls their “sponsors.” El Khabar claims this behaviour has generated tensions, problems, and crises in several Arab countries, notably Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, and Egypt.
The article claims that this state has found support only from its ally Israel and from Morocco, which it also describes as “pro-Zionist,” and that both countries are actively seeking to inflame tensions and conflicts in the Sahel region.
However, El Khabar notes that Algeria’s wisdom has enabled it to thwart these alleged manoeuvres, particularly by helping to ease tensions with Mali and Niger, supporting Chad, and through the Algerian president’s historic visit to Germany and the resulting agreements, which reportedly frustrated France.
According to the same sources, Algeria has demonstrated patience by offering Abu Dhabi’s leaders multiple opportunities to change course. However, they have continued to escalate their media campaigns, disinformation operations, and efforts to undermine the image of the “new Algeria.”
For these reasons, along with others that the newspaper says it cannot disclose in detail, El Khabar asserts that Algeria is preparing to announce the severance of its diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates.
The daily concludes that this decision would be a direct response to any attempt to undermine the honor of Algeria and Algerians. It adds that Algeria and its people, like all free nations, will neither yield to pressure nor submit to the blackmail of those who seek to harm their interests or those of Arab states that prioritize their sovereignty and independence.
