As part of ongoing efforts to follow up on the situation of the national community abroad, the Secretary of State in charge of the Algerian diaspora, Sofiane Chaib, carried out a working visit to the Kingdom of Spain on April 29, 2026, including a stop at the Algerian Consulate General in Barcelona.
This visit falls in a series of field missions aimed at assessing the performance of consular services and closely reviewing the quality of services provided to members of the diaspora. The visit focused on the procedures in place and the resources deployed to improve public service delivery and modernize consular management.

During the visit, the official, accompanied by Algeria’s Ambassador to Spain, toured various consular departments, where he was briefed on daily operations and listened to the concerns of Algerian nationals residing in the country. The step reflects a broader approach centered on strengthening direct engagement with the diaspora.
He also held a meeting with members of the community, during which views were exchanged on the level of consular services and the efforts made to simplify administrative procedures and make them more accessible, in line with the expectations of Algerians abroad.

According to the official statement, the visit underscores the commitment of the country’s highest authorities to giving special attention to the national community abroad by improving consular services and reinforcing the state’s presence overseas in a way that serves its citizens’ interests.
