Algeria Bets Everything on Artificial Intelligence: 50,000 Experts to Be Trained by 2030

Algeria Gate: Algeria is displaying strong ambitions in the field of artificial intelligence. As part of its national strategy dedicated to this sector, the country has set an ambitious goal: to train no fewer than 50,000 artificial intelligence specialists by 2030 in order to strengthen its national human capital and possess the skills needed to accompany the accelerated technological transformations on a global scale.

A national strategy structured around training and research

This objective was confirmed during a meeting dedicated to the implementation of the national artificial intelligence strategy, during which the authorities also prepared the launch of research projects within the framework of the National Research Program (PNR), according to the priorities defined by this strategy.

This approach is part of a broader will to strengthen Algeria’s presence in the field of artificial intelligence by combining scientific research, training, and the development of digital infrastructure, while encouraging the adoption of intelligent solutions in the country’s various sectors of activity.

An ambition that goes beyond the sole field of AI

This target of 50,000 AI experts is linked to broader ambitions in the digital domain. The higher education sector aims, according to ministerial statements, to train 30,000 state engineers specialized in artificial intelligence by 2030, while the authorities in the information and communication technologies sector are targeting the training of 500,000 specialists in this field over the same period.

The country can already rely on a solid base: more than 57,000 Algerian students are currently following training programs in artificial intelligence across 74 master’s programs throughout the country, and a first graduating class has even completed, between September 2023 and June 2026, a fully dematerialized “zero paper” university curriculum.

Potential hailed by an American institute

These efforts are beginning to be noticed beyond Algeria’s borders. A report by the American New Lines Institute recently designated Algeria as a potential candidate for leadership in artificial intelligence in North Africa, noting that the country ranks among the top five African nations in terms of scientific publications and has researchers ranked among the top 2% most cited in the world.

The same report anticipates rapid growth in the Algerian artificial intelligence market, which is expected to rise from around $500 million in 2025 to nearly $1.7 billion by 2030, driven by the expansion of AI uses in strategic sectors such as agriculture, health, and energy, as well as by the desire to diversify exports beyond hydrocarbons. The institute further notes that Algeria’s geographical position, at the crossroads of Europe and Africa, places it in a good position to become a regional hub for artificial intelligence, as part of the country’s broader transition from an essentially energy power to a rising regional technology hub.

Tamanrasset–In Guezzam: Algeria Prepares a New Railway Link of More Than 400 km

Tamanrasset–In Guezzam: Algeria Prepares a New Railway Link of More Than 400 km

Algeria Gate: The first study of the route of the railway project linking Tamanrasset to In Guezzam was at the center of a working meeting held in the wilaya of Tamanrasset, under the chairmanship of Wali Mohamed Bouderaa, in the presence of the directors of the sectors concerned and several wilaya officials.

During this meeting, representatives of the National Agency for Studies and Monitoring of the Realization of Railway Investments (ANESRIF) presented a briefing devoted to the project, in particular in the presence of the technical advisor and head of the agency’s studies department, Cherifa Taghmout, as well as ANESRIF officials and representatives of the various services concerned.

The presentation covered the various components of the project, its objectives, and its expected impacts on the economic and social development of the region. The future line is notably expected to contribute to strengthening the transport network, improving access to the Greater South, and better circulation of people and goods.

Participants also examined the proposals and studies relating to the planned route, while addressing the various technical aspects linked to its realization. Several data points will need to be taken into consideration in order to determine the most suitable path.

Representatives of the sectors concerned were thus able to present their observations and concerns regarding the various proposals, in order to enrich the preliminary study and integrate the realities on the ground before proceeding to the next stages.

With a length of more than 400 kilometers, the future Tamanrasset–In Guezzam railway link is of strategic importance for the development of transport infrastructure in the far south of Algeria.

Beyond transport, the project is expected to accompany the economic dynamism of the region, facilitate exchanges, create new conditions favorable to investment, and contribute to the opening up of southern territories.

This new infrastructure is thus part of the strategy for developing the Algerian railway network aimed at better connecting the southern regions to the main national infrastructures and strengthening economic integration and sustainable development.

The Algerian Platform Ecosyom: A Digital Revolution in Algerian Commerce

Algeria Gate: In the heart of Algiers, near the alleys of the Casbah; which were once a meeting place for merchants and exchanges from the four corners of the world since the era of “Ecosyom,” a new experience is today emerging to revive this commercial heritage through a modern approach.

The Algerian platform Ecosyom presents itself as an integrated digital solution aimed at accompanying Algerian merchants in their transition from traditional commerce to e-commerce, by offering a new way to manage sales and simplify services, from the customer’s first click to the delivery of the package.

Intelligent solutions that change the rules of the game

The platform relies on artificial intelligence technologies to offer a smooth user experience meeting international standards. It notably allows the creation, in a few minutes, of professional sales pages in Arabic and French thanks to artificial intelligence.

Ecosyom also makes it possible to fully automate order confirmation via WhatsApp, as well as the sending of updates to customers 24 hours a day without manual intervention. The platform further ensures a direct connection with various delivery companies in order to cover sales across the 69 wilayas.

Another advantage: financial transparency allowing the precise calculation of the net profit of each product in Algerian dinars, according to standardized criteria and without approximate estimates.

Facilities to get started

In order to encourage merchants to launch into the digital world without taking risks, the platform offers, upon registration, three sales pages designed thanks to artificial intelligence, as well as the processing of the first ten orders free of charge, without fees or prior commitment. Ecosyom also offers a subscription system payable in the national currency, the Algerian dinar.

Through this approach, Ecosyom fits into the model of Algerian startups that rely on local identity to develop technological solutions adapted to the needs of the national market, while accompanying the global digital transformation.
