In a significant step reflecting its continued commitment to addressing climate change, Algeria has officially submitted its updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), in line with its obligations under the Paris Agreement.

The announcement was welcomed by the European Union Delegation to Algeria and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), which described the submission as a major milestone in implementing Algeria’s climate commitments and advancing international cooperation on environmental protection.

The Nationally Determined Contribution is the official document through which countries outline their targets and strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, strengthen climate resilience, and adapt to the impacts of climate change, with regular updates reflecting evolving national priorities and global climate objectives.

Algeria’s updated climate strategy focuses on several key priorities, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing climate adaptation, improving sustainable water resource management, protecting forests and biodiversity, and accelerating the transition toward renewable energy and green hydrogen.

The submission builds on a series of reforms and initiatives launched by Algeria in recent years to promote sustainable development. These include expanding solar energy capacity, developing green hydrogen projects, improving energy efficiency, combating desertification through reforestation programs, and supporting a more diversified, low-carbon economy.

As one of Africa’s leading energy producers, Algeria is increasingly positioning itself as a regional hub for clean energy while maintaining its role as a reliable supplier of natural gas. The country’s climate strategy reflects its ambition to balance economic growth with environmental responsibility and contribute to global efforts to combat climate change.

The European Union and GIZ’s recognition of Algeria’s submission highlights growing international confidence in the country’s environmental agenda and opens new opportunities for technical cooperation, climate finance, and sustainable development partnerships aimed at building a more resilient and environmentally responsible future.

Algeria Gate: The President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defence, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired a ceremony on Tuesday at the National Army Club in Beni Messous, Algiers, in tribute to the emblematic figures of the People’s National Army (PNA).

The ceremony was organized in honor of the PNA retirees from the ranks of the National Liberation Army (NLA), as well as the families of the martyrs of national duty, the victims, and the seriously wounded of the People’s National Army during the fight against terrorism.

Upon his arrival, the Head of State was welcomed by Army General Said Chanegriha, Delegate Minister to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the PNA. A military formation rendered him the honors in accordance with official protocol.

Through this ceremony, the Algerian authorities wished to salute the sacrifices made by the generations of military personnel who contributed to the defense of national sovereignty and the preservation of the country’s security.

President Tebboune thus reaffirmed the importance attached to the memory of the veterans, the families of the martyrs, and the soldiers wounded in the performance of their missions in the service of Algeria.

Algeria Gate: The editorial of issue 165 of Police Magazine, published under the title “A Homeland Whose Glory Is Guarded by the Martyrs and Built by Its Loyal Sons,” affirmed that Algeria continues its development path with steadfastness through integrated efforts exerted by the various institutions of the state, in implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, with the aim of achieving comprehensive development and keeping pace with current transformations.

The editorial highlighted that the projects of reform and achievement, alongside investment in the human element and the development of infrastructure, reflect the state’s will to build a more prosperous future, relying on young national competencies armed with knowledge, awareness, and a sense of responsibility.

On the security side, the magazine stressed that the General Directorate of National Security continues to perform its duties in protecting security and public order, through strengthening the modern security approach based on proximity to the citizen, developing training, modernizing working tools, and expanding the use of modern technologies, in a manner that enhances operational readiness and consolidates the pillars of security and stability.

The editorial also affirmed that the National Security apparatus, alongside the other security institutions, remains an impenetrable shield in the face of all attempts targeting Algeria’s security and stability, whether through field threats or media and digital campaigns.
