Algeria reaffirms its commitment to its membership in OPEC and the OPEC+ alliance

Algeria reaffirms its commitment to its membership in OPEC and the OPEC+ alliance

Algeria reaffirms, with steadfastness and determination, its commitment to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the Cooperation Declaration (OPEC+), recognizing them as the fundamental frameworks for the stability of the global oil market. Algeria emphasizes that OPEC’s strategic and structural role has been and remains crucial in defending the interests of producer nations, ensuring market stability, and fostering a balanced dialogue with consumer nations. This has enabled the organization, since its inception, to maintain global market balance, respond systematically to oil demand, and keep pace with global economic growth.

Algeria reaffirms its commitment to its membership in OPEC and the OPEC+ alliance

Algeria has emphasized that the development of its oil and gas sector is historically and structurally linked to OPEC, and that it remains a fully committed member, faithful to the principles of solidarity, consultation, and collective discipline. As the tenth anniversary of the historic “Algeria Agreement”—which laid the foundation for the Declaration of Cooperation (OPEC+)—approaches, Algeria affirms that the decisions taken over the past decade, thanks to the cohesion and responsibility of member and non-member states, have been decisive in maintaining the stability and balance of the global oil market and supporting the dynamic growth of the global economy.

In this context, Algeria reaffirms its strength and standing as a key player within OPEC and “OPEC+,” highlighting its determination to continue and strengthen its commitment to the spirit of collective responsibility, dialogue, and coordination, in the service of lasting stability in the international oil market, and to consolidate its image as an energy power and a fundamental pillar of the global economic equation.

European Alert Classifies Moroccan Vegetables as “Dangerous”

European Alert Classifies Moroccan Vegetables as “Dangerous”

The European Commission’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) has issued a new alert classified as “dangerous” after detecting residues of a toxic pesticide in a shipment of Moroccan peppers that arrived in Germany via Spain. The notification, numbered 2026.2980, followed laboratory analyses that confirmed the presence of avermectin B1a at a concentration of 0.13 mg/kg, a substance that targets the nervous system and is considered a health hazard to consumers.

German authorities confirmed that the shipment did not enter local markets, as it was intercepted prior to distribution, and the relevant European authorities were notified to coordinate monitoring measures.

As a transit country, Spain moved quickly to strengthen monitoring measures for this type of product, as a precautionary step aimed at avoiding any potential risks to European consumers.

In contrast, Algeria stands out as a safe and reliable option, relying on locally produced fresh vegetables that are subject to strict controls and are of high quality. These Algerian products, which are destined for European and African markets, offer a healthy alternative for consumers seeking safe food free from the chemical risks that threaten Moroccan crops.

The incident has brought the crisis of agricultural practices in Morocco back into the spotlight, as a scientific study revealed that 86% of Moroccan farmers engage in deadly “chemical abuse” on crops that end up daily on the plates of citizens both inside and outside the country. Experts believe that these practices are putting the kingdom’s food security in a “critical condition” and further eroding confidence in Moroccan agricultural products.
