The Bureau of the Pan-African Pariament PAP, chaired by Fateh Boutbig, held a virtual meeting with representatives from the South African Parliament, including Thandi Modise. This marks the first bilateral meetings held by the Bureau of the seventh legislative term since its election.

The meeting served as an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen existing cooperation as the Pan-African Parliament enters a new phase. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing coordination and the development of joint action mechanisms.
The PAP Bureau praised the support and facilities provided by South Africa over the past twenty years, expressing appreciation for its role in hosting the continental parliamentary institution.

For her part, the Speaker of the National Assembly of South Africa congratulated the members of the new PAP Bureau on their election. She emphasized that the electoral process was conducted in accordance with the African Union’s principle of fair, regular, and predictable regional rotation, ensuring balanced representation of the continent’s five regions as well as gender balance.
