British Security Expert: Abu Dhabi Is Directing the Emirati Separatist Axis Toward Algeria!

Algeria Gate: British security expert Andreas Krieg, commenting on Algeria’s sovereign decision to sever diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates, said that Algeria has effectively concluded that Abu Dhabi’s regional approach based on sponsoring what he called the “separatist axis;” from Haftar in Libya to the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan all the way to the Southern Movement in Yemen, has begun to be directed toward Algeria itself.

The associate professor of security studies at King’s College London confirmed in a statement to the Middle East Eye website that the Algerian decision had been taking shape for a long time, adding: “In my view, its importance does not lie in the break itself so much as in what it reveals about the way Algeria has come to view the Emirates.”

Krieg continued: “Algeria has effectively concluded that Abu Dhabi’s regional approach based on sponsoring what I call the ‘separatist axis,’ from Haftar in Libya to the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan all the way to the Southern Movement in Yemen, has begun to be directed toward Algeria itself.”

The British analyst considered that the most serious threats consist of Emirati contacts with the MAK movement, which Algeria classified as a terrorist organization on May 18th, 2021.

Krieg said: “The wording of the Foreign Ministry’s statement is the key point that made clear the decision came after all means of saving the relationship had been exhausted. It did not specify a particular reason, which is intentional according to the security expert; he confirmed that the decision ‘was not the result of a single incident, but the accumulation of a series of factors, including suspected contacts with separatists, the Emirati military presence in Libya and the Sahel region, and Abu Dhabi’s support for Morocco on the Western Sahara issue, which for Algeria is by far the most sensitive file.’”

“We Are at War with the UAE”: Defense Journalist Akram Kharief Sparks Controversy

“We Are at War with the UAE”: Defense Journalist Akram Kharief Sparks Controversy

Algeria Gate: Algiers is at war with the United Arab Emirates. According to independent defence and security journalist Akram Kharief, the most consequential development in this confrontation is not the formal severance of diplomatic ties announced by Algeria, but the reported payment of some €20 million by Abu Dhabi to secure the release of the last two hostages held in Mali; a Swiss woman and an Austrian national.

These funds, Kharief notes, come in addition to earlier payments of €10 million for an American hostage and €50 million for an Emirati national. In his assessment, the United Arab Emirates is thereby financing the durable implantation of terrorist groups along Algeria’s borders.

“This country is financing a lasting foothold for terrorist organisations at our frontiers,” Kharief writes. “That is why we must become even more offensive on the ground and deny them any breathing space.”

Mercenary forces, he argues, never endure over time. Algeria must therefore pursue them wherever they operate across the continent; in Libya, Sudan, Somalia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and beyond, by every available means.

Social media users in the Arab world react to Algeria’s decision to sever relations with the UAE!

Social media users in the Arab world react to Algeria’s decision to sever relations with the UAE!

Algeria Gate: Algeria’s decision to sever diplomatic relations with the Emirati mini-state sparked a wave of interaction on social media in the Arab world, where a number of activists, writers, and media figures expressed their support for the Algerian step and directed sharp criticism at Emirati policies in the region.

Among the most prominent reactions, Saudi political analyst Mohammed Abu Ayyad considered that Algeria, after thousands of kilometers, chose to cut its relations with the UAE, noting that the decision came after exhausting all means capable of preserving bilateral relations, and affirming that the Emirati role in a number of Arab countries has become the subject of widespread criticism and that the UAE is an Israeli tool implementing a malicious agenda.

For his part, the Egyptian global producer Amr Waked commented on the Algerian decision, expressing his respect for Algeria and its position, in a post in which he summarized his stance by saying: “We stand in respect for Algeria, the daughter of origins.”

Yemeni journalist Anes Mansory considered the decision “sovereign and a source of pride for every Arab who rejects the UAE’s destructive policies,” and that Algeria practiced a policy of restraint but the sons of Zayed went too far in their satanic hostile acts against Algeria.

In the same regard, Qatari academic researcher and specialist in international relations and foreign policy Abdullah Bandar Al-Otaibi addressed the decision, considering that severing diplomatic relations is not necessarily the end of the dispute between states, but is often preceded by gradual diplomatic measures, affirming that the rupture may raise the cost of the dispute and push toward indirect means of communication.

Other posts also spread linking the Algerian decision to what they described as Emirati interventions in a number of Arab files, recalling Somalia, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, and Niger, and considering that Emirati policy in these countries was a reason for the tension in its relations with Arab and regional parties.

A Saudi account went so far as to list a number of countries with which it said the UAE had entered into disputes, before considering that Algeria in turn chose to put an end to relations with Abu Dhabi, in a position it described as a clear message regarding what Algeria considers a crossing of its sovereign lines.

These interactions coincided with other more severe posts against the UAE, describing its regional policy as destructive and accusing it of seeking to influence internal files of a number of Arab countries, and even in the Sahel and Sahara and its intervention in the Niger coup a week earlier, considering that the Algerian decision represents a sovereign response to this policy.

Thus, the reactions circulating in the Arab world reflected a clear state of support from a number of activists for the Algerian decision, in parallel with sharp criticism of Emirati policy and its destructive role in a number of Arab files.

Belani Puts Abu Dhabi in Its Place: A Brutal Lesson for Bin Zayed’s Advisor

Belani Puts Abu Dhabi in Its Place: A Brutal Lesson for Bin Zayed’s Advisor

Amar Belani: “Reason and clarity of interests..”Abu Dhabi would do better to keep it for its partners in the Abraham Accords!

Algeria Gate: In a striking article, former Algerian ambassador Amar Belani responded to a comment by the diplomatic advisor to the Emirati president, Anwar Gargash, who was hurt by Algeria’s sovereign decision to sever relations with his country.

Belani Puts Abu Dhabi in Its Place: A Brutal Lesson for Bin Zayed’s Advisor

Belani, in an article published on his Facebook account, said that this official’s statement is particularly revealing of what he carefully conceals. Not a single word about the actions of this fire-starting and predatory state that thrives on chaos wherever it sticks its nose; in Yemen, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somaliland, and elsewhere. A state that has made destabilizing others its economic model is certainly not in a position to give lessons in diplomatic methodology.

He added that talking about “clarity” and denouncing “puzzles that need to be deciphered” is an exercise in audacity coming from a country that has never taken responsibility for its support of the “MAK” movement, the separatist movement classified as terrorist, nor the protection it provided to fugitives from Algerian justice, nor its active military cooperation with the Tel Aviv–Rabat axis whose anti-Algerian objectives are no longer a secret unknown to anyone.

He continued in the same vein by saying that the ambiguity, in this case, is not on Algeria’s side, but has a name and an address, and that name is Abu Dhabi. In truth, this rhetorical maneuver is nothing but the classic admission of someone who has no answer on the substance of the matter and knows it well.

As for the lesson on “reason and clarity of interests,” the former Algerian diplomat adds, Abu Dhabi would do better to keep it for its partners in the Abraham Accords, with whom it shares complicity in war crimes, crimes against humanity, and acts of genocide committed against the Palestinian people. It is no surprise, in the end, from a country accused of funding the French far-right party known for its hostility to Arabs and Muslims.

As for Algeria, Belani concludes his striking article, it does not need anyone to explain to it what its interests are. It has just proven that it knows perfectly well how to defend them, and with whom it must stop pretending.
