As part of the summit, which commenced last Sunday with the participation of approximately 5,000 economic actors from 100 countries, Mr. Moula met with the Deputy Director General of the U.S. Department of Commerce, Thomas Bruns, in the presence of the Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Algiers, Marc Shapiro.

Furthermore, he expressed a desire to intensify activities to promote Algeria and showcase its potential to American business leaders.

Mr. Bruns proposed the organization of an annual meeting between the two parties to monitor and evaluate the progress of committed projects, according to the same source.

For his part, Mr. Moula outlined the economic transformations taking place in Algeria, particularly in the industrial sector, which open “broad horizons” for partnership. He noted that Algeria aspires to achieve “high-tech projects and establish partnerships across multiple sectors.”

“2026 Milestone: How Algeria is Transforming its Blue Economy into a 20,000-Tonne Powerhouse”

As 2026 unfolds Algeria vision for food sovereignty is taking a definitive shape, moving beyond traditional fishing, the nation now is hitting its stride in aquaculture with a clear 20,000 tonne that signals a new era for the Mediterranean Blue Economy.

According to recent industry reports, the strategy focuses on expanding marine cage farming and integrating aquaculture with inland agricultural activities. By leveraging modern technology and providing incentives for private investors, Algeria aims not only to stabilize domestic fish prices but also to position itself as a potential exporter in the regional Mediterranean and African markets.

Experts suggest that reaching this milestone will significantly reduce the country’s reliance on imports, create new employment opportunities, and foster a sustainable “Blue Economy” that aligns with international standards of food processing and packaging.
