MADRID – As part of his working visit to the Kingdom of Spain, the Secretary of State for the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib, chaired a strategic coordination meeting on May 1^st, 2026, at the Algerian Embassy in Madrid. With the upcoming legislative elections approaching, the meeting served as a platform to evaluate logistical preparations. Mr. Chaib stressed the importance of achieving “maximum readiness” by mobilizing all human, material, and logistical resources.

The goal is to provide an optimal organizational environment that allows the Algerian diaspora to exercise their right to vote under the best possible conditions. He highlighted the necessity of close coordination with the representatives of the Independent National Authority for Elections (ANIE) abroad.

Summer Season Facilities

In anticipation of the peak summer season—a period characterized by a significant influx of the diaspora returning to the homeland—the Secretary of State called for immediate facilitatory measures. He urged consular heads to ensure smooth travel procedures and to provide high-quality assistance to nationals during their journey home.
