Gaza: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation condemns the Zionist attack on the “Global Solidarity Flotilla”

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation condemned on Friday the attack carried out by the Zionist occupation forces in international waters against the “Global Solidarity Flotilla,” calling on the international community to take the necessary measures to investigate this “blatant violation” of international law.

The Organization’s General Secretariat affirmed in a statement that this crime constitutes “a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and relevant United Nations resolutions, which emphasize the necessity of protecting humanitarian aid workers and ensuring unimpeded access to aid,” calling on the international community to take “the necessary measures to ensure justice and accountability under international criminal law.”

It held the Zionist occupation “fully responsible” for the lives and safety of the participants in this humanitarian convoy, reiterating the “necessity of opening all crossings, protecting humanitarian workers, and ensuring the unimpeded delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip.”The “Global Solidarity Flotilla” is a civil society initiative launched in 2025 by representatives of civil society organizations, activists, and volunteers from several countries to transport humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The fleet’s ships set sail on April 12 from the Spanish city of Barcelona, arriving in Sicily on the 23rd of the same month, where they were later joined by ships and activists from Italy via the cities of Syracuse and Augusta.

This is the second initiative of its kind following the September 2025 attempt, which ended with the Zionist occupation’s attack on the ships in October of that same year while they were sailing in international waters, and the arrest of hundreds of international activists before their deportation.
