Ayoub Aissiou case: French personalities oppose his handover to Algeria

Algeria Gate: The case of Algerian businessman Ayoub Aissiou is taking on a new dimension, as several French personalities mobilise to prevent his possible handover to Algeria.

According to the elements reported, a step would have been addressed to the Spanish authorities in order to oppose his transfer, while appeals would have been launched to Emmanuel Macron and the Spanish government to intervene in the dossier.

Algeria Leads Africa Toward a Proactive System to Confront Threats

Algeria Leads Africa Toward a Proactive System to Confront Threats

Algeria Gate: Algeria is taking a leading role in strengthening Africa’s security architecture. Under its presidency, the African Union Peace and Security Council held a key meeting focused on improving early warning, conflict prevention, and rapid response across the continent.

The discussion addressed major threats facing Africa today. These include terrorism, violent extremism, organized crime, armed conflicts, political instability, climate risks, cyber threats, and external interference.

Algeria’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Mohamed Khaled, currently chairs the Council. In his opening remarks, he stressed the strategic importance of the Continental Early Warning System. He called for a shift from reactive measures to a proactive approach that anticipates crises before they escalate.

Four technical tools were presented to support this goal: the Continental Risk Assessment and Threat Mapping Tool, the African Union Response Activation Model, the Governance Early Warning System of the African Peer Review Mechanism, and the Analytical Matrix of Peace Agreements in Africa.

Ambassador Khaled highlighted the joint work of the AU Commission, the African Centre for the Study and Research on Terrorism, AFRIPOL, and the African Peer Review Mechanism. He emphasized the need to activate these tools and ensure reliable data and information sources.

High-level participants included AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security Bankole Adeoye, along with officials from CISSA, AFRIPOL, and other specialized bodies. Speakers focused on linking early warning more effectively to rapid response and improving threat monitoring systems.

Member states welcomed progress made by a technical working group. The group proposed a dynamic continental risk-mapping tool based on nine main threat categories. The Council stressed the importance of unified data methods, better information sharing, and stronger coordination between AU institutions and regional mechanisms.

Special attention was given to the Risk Mapping Tool, an Algerian initiative. The Council described it as a core pillar of the African response model. The tool helps measure threat levels accurately and identify when urgent action is required.

Member states endorsed the tools and supported a clear roadmap for implementation. This includes creating a coordination mechanism, information-sharing protocols, a digital platform with an interactive dashboard, pilot projects, and training for analysts. The long-term goal is to expand the system across Africa.

The Council concluded that a stronger early warning and risk assessment system will boost preventive diplomacy, improve decision-making, and help the African Union anticipate and contain emerging threats. The meeting reaffirmed the principle of “Early Warning for Rapid Response.”

The Genius of Algeria’s Decision-Makers: Wisdom Paired with Deterrence

The Genius of Algeria’s Decision-Makers: Wisdom Paired with Deterrence

Algeria Gate: Algeria’s strategic handling of the crises along its borders with Niger and Mali is not simply a display of diplomatic maturity. It is something rarer: a masterful fusion of political wisdom and preemptive deterrence. What we are witnessing is a sovereign state that understands, without the slightest hesitation, that securing its neighborhood is not a short-term tactic. It is the essential safeguard of national stability and the protective shield of Algeria’s strategic depth.

This firm and calculated containment has delivered a quiet but stinging blow to those political workshops that had grown drunk on the fantasy of undermining Algeria’s national security. The amateurs and strategic dwarfs who imagined they could disrupt the country’s posture have once again been exposed. They lack the capacity to decode the complex realities of the region. Their clumsy maneuvers amount to little more than diplomatic adolescence ; an approach that repeatedly collides with the solid rock of a state that knows exactly how to reduce the small to their proper size and force them back into place.

As the train of regional integration moves forward with irreversible momentum, the shadowy actors operating in the geopolitical backrooms are left scrambling in the dark. They search desperately for new openings, only to find themselves blocked by a solid wall of sovereign resolve and doors that remain firmly shut. They will retreat once more, dragging behind them the familiar weight of strategic failure and the inevitable defeats that come from challenging a state of Algeria’s stature.

Algeria Gate: Algerian Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts Houria Meddahi chaired a coordination meeting on Monday devoted to preparations for the 27th edition of the International Handicraft Fair, scheduled for 3–7 December 2026 at the Pins Maritimes Exhibition Palace in Algiers.

The minister stressed the importance of the event in showcasing the richness of Algeria’s cultural and artisanal heritage while ensuring its preservation and transmission to future generations.

She also insisted on the need to train artisans and strengthen their skills, particularly in digital tools, with the planned creation of a digital platform dedicated to promoting and marketing artisanal products, especially those at risk of disappearing.

The fair is also expected to take on an economic and international dimension through professional meetings and foreign participation that will help promote Algerian handicrafts on external markets.

Special attention will be given to women, particularly rural women, for their role in local development and heritage preservation.

Finally, several competitions are planned to encourage creativity and innovation, notably around traditional costumes, photography, video promotion, and digital sales of Algerian artisanal products.

This 27th edition thus aims to turn Algeria’s artisanal heritage into not only a cultural symbol but also a genuine economic lever and an international showcase.
