Cairo – Arab Parliament Speaker Mohamed bin Ahmed Al‑Yamahi affirmed on Monday that the 50th anniversary of Palestinian Land Day represents a timeless milestone in the struggle of the Palestinian people, serving as living testimony to their steadfast attachment to their land and legitimate rights despite repressive policies and systematic attempts at Judaization aimed at uprooting their presence and distorting their identity and history.
In a statement, Al‑Yamahi stressed that this occasion is “a message of defiance that Palestine will neither be marginalized nor forgotten, no matter how crises intensify or priorities shift, and that occupation is destined to end regardless of how long it lasts.” He underlined that the current turmoil and escalation in the region “will not succeed in altering the Arab position on the Palestinian cause.”
He further emphasized that achieving peace and stability “begins with justice for the Palestinian people,” reiterating that Palestine “will remain the foremost central cause of the Arab nation, and the Arab Parliament will not allow it to be sidelined or erased under any circumstance or pretext.”
Al‑Yamahi noted that commemorating Land Day this year “comes amid extremely dangerous circumstances” in the region, with ongoing Israeli aggression and grave violations against the Palestinian people. He called for a firmer Arab and international stance to confront what he described as genocide perpetrated against defenseless Palestinians, and to end the culture of impunity that emboldens the occupation to continue its assaults.
He concluded by reaffirming the Arab Parliament’s commitment to pursuing political, diplomatic, and legal efforts at all levels to mobilize international support for the Palestinian cause, hold the occupation accountable for its crimes, and safeguard the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people—foremost among them the right to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
