Regarding deportations, Nunez stated that “no consular transit permits were issued at the start of the year.” This coincided with rising tensions between the two countries, but the situation began to improve after his visit to Algeria in mid-February, during which more than 140 transit permits have been issued so far. He mentioned that things are “moving toward improvement,” although “further efforts” are still needed.
