Algeria News Portal: In a rare move, the specialist platform ‘Al-Taka’ reported that Algeria exported a shipment of petrol to Libya last April.
According to the same source, the shipment amounted to 132,000 barrels from Algeria last month, arriving in Libya on 3 May.The “Energy” platform explained that this move was intended to alleviate the petrol shortage crisis Libya has been experiencing recently.
The family of Christophe Ghiles, a French journalist imprisoned in Algeria on charges related to the glorification of terrorism, announced that he has decided to waive his right to appeal his seven-year prison sentence in hopes of receiving a presidential pardon from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

In a statement to France Inter radio, Sylvie Godard stated that her son, “Christophe Ghiles, places his full trust in a pardon from President Tebboune.” She added, “For this reason, the family has decided that Christophe will withdraw his appeal before the Court of Cassation.”
In December 2025, the Algerian judiciary (Tizi Ouzou Court of Appeals) upheld a seven-year prison sentence against the 36-year-old French journalist. Ghiles was convicted of charges including “glorifying terrorism” and communicating with the “MAK” movement, which is classified as a terrorist organization in Algeria.
ALGIERS – Algeria has taken a new step forward in its digital transformation process with the signing of a Project Document ProDoc titled support for the Implementation of the National Digital Transformation Strategy 2025-2023, reinforcing the roadmap set by national decision-makers.
The initiative falls within the framework of a cooperation protocol between the High Commission for Digitalization and United Nations Development Program, with support from the Givernment of Japan, as part of ongoing efforts to accelerate Algeria’s digital transition.

She highlighted the importance of advancing the fourth pillar related to the digital economy, as well as supporting change management across institutions and structures.
She added that the implementation plan for 2025–2026 has already been developed and is currently underway, helping to consolidate achievements and strengthen the momentum of digital transformation at both institutional and economic levels, within a gradual and integrated vision.
For her part, Natasha Van Rijn reaffirmed the UNDP’s commitment to continued collaboration in support of innovative, inclusive, and sustainable public policies aligned with Algeria’s digital strategy and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Meanwhile, Japan’s Ambassador to Algeria, Kotaro Suzuki, praised the added value of this cooperation, which aims to support national reforms and priorities, particularly in the fields of digitalization and innovation.
According to a statement from the High Commission for Digitalization, the project is part of a constructive partnership with the UNDP in Algeria, reflecting the objectives of the declaration of intent signed on October 26, 2025. The initiative is based on a shared vision that positions digital transformation as a key driver of sustainable development, enhanced transparency, and improved public service delivery.
