In a scene reflecting the vitality of the country’s political life, Algerians headed to the polls today, Thursday, July 2, 2026, to elect their representatives to the People’s National Assembly, in legislative elections considered a pivotal milestone in strengthening institutions and renewing the political elite.

This national event has also been marked by the broad participation of senior state officials and government members. A Child’s Innocence Defeated Their Fanaticism

A Child’s Innocence Defeated Their Fanaticism

They didn’t need a real reason. A jersey was enough.

ALGERIA GATE : AN Algerian MINOR boy walked toward Moroccan fans in the United States with nothing but goodwill and a smile, wanting to share in the joy of their World Cup qualification. What he got in return was a beating. Not a misunderstanding. Not a moment of tension. A deliberate, unprovoked assault on a child documented on video, confirmed by the victim himself.

This is what blind fanaticism looks like when it’s handed a crowd: cowards in numbers, attacking a minor because his shirt offended their tribal ego. No sportsmanship. No decency. No basic humanity. Just the ugliest face of a fanbase that confused a football tournament with a battleground.

The bitter irony? That Algerian child understood football better than every single one of his attackers. He came to celebrate. Because for him, the game has no borders. Meanwhile, those who beat him proved that their loyalty to a flag is worth less than the flag itself.

Solidarity erupted online and it matters. But solidarity is not accountability. Assaulting a minor is a crime by every legal and moral standard, and the faces behind this attack should face consequences, not anonymity.

Football was not built for this. And that boy, by simply showing up to celebrate, played the sport with more class than his attackers ever will.

Major Reversal in Paris: French Prosecutors Seek the Release of the Algerian Consular Official in the Boukhors Case.

Major Reversal in Paris: French Prosecutors Seek the Release of the Algerian Consular Official in the Boukhors Case.

ALGERIA GATE : In a significant development in one of the most sensitive cases affecting Algerian-French relations, France’s National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office officially requested on June 11 the release of Ismail R., an employee at the Algerian Consulate in Créteil, France. The consular official has been held in pre-trial detention since April 12, 2025, over allegations of involvement in the alleged kidnapping of Algerian opposition figure Amir Boukhors, according to the French account of events.

The prosecutor’s request represents a notable shift in the handling of the case. Until now, French judicial authorities had consistently opposed the release of the Algerian consular employee, maintaining that his continued detention was necessary as the investigation proceeded. The latest move has therefore raised questions about the strength of the evidence and the direction of the inquiry.

The case has been a major source of diplomatic friction between Algeria and France since the arrest of the consular official. Algerian authorities strongly criticized the detention, viewing it as a matter with broader political and diplomatic implications. The affair further complicated already strained relations between the two countries and intensified debates over judicial cooperation, respect for diplomatic norms, and the treatment of consular personnel.

The request for Ismail R.’s release does not automatically end the judicial proceedings or imply a dismissal of the allegations. However, it marks an important turning point in the case and has renewed public and political interest in the circumstances surrounding the investigation. Observers believe the development could influence the future handling of the file and potentially contribute to easing tensions between Algiers and Paris.
