Morocco Tightens Economic Ties with Israel as Exports Soar 36%

Algeria Gate: Moroccan exports to the Zionist entity recorded a notable increase in 2025, reaching nearly $117.95 million, compared with $86.5 million in 2024, representing a rise of 36.4%.

According to data reported by the site “Lakome,” citing the Trading Economics platform, itself based on data from the United Nations International Trade Database (UN Comtrade), sugar and confectionery products top Moroccan exports to Israel, with a value of $61.27 million.

Cars and land vehicles occupy second place, with exports estimated at $37.37 million. The remainder of the trade includes, in particular, preparations based on vegetables, fruit and nuts, as well as various food products.

Moroccan exports also include electrical and electronic equipment, clothing, aircraft and other goods, reflecting the diversification of trade between the two parties.

These figures illustrate, according to the text, a progression in economic relations between Morocco and Israel, as the Kingdom continues to develop its commercial exchanges with the Hebrew state, despite the economic and social difficulties faced by part of the Moroccan population.

Three major strategic projects at the heart of high-level Algerian-Nigerien discussions

Three major strategic projects at the heart of high-level Algerian-Nigerien discussions

Algeria Gate: Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb held bilateral talks today at the Government Palace with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Niger, Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine, who is on a working visit to Algeria at the head of a large delegation.

Following these discussions, an expanded meeting with the delegations of both countries made it possible to examine the various aspects of Algerian-Nigerien cooperation and to exchange views on several issues of common interest.

The two sides underlined the depth of the bonds of brotherhood, solidarity and good neighborliness that unite Algeria and Niger, hailing the unprecedented momentum that bilateral relations are experiencing in several fields, driven by the political will of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Nigerien President Abdourahamane Tiani.

Discussions also covered the state of progress of the agreements and joint projects concluded during the second session of the Algerian-Nigerien Joint Great Commission, held last March. The two countries reaffirmed their determination to accelerate the implementation of projects still underway.

In this framework, Algiers and Niamey intend to further strengthen their partnership and exploit their significant potential in the service of development and stability for the entire Sahel region.

Among the major continental projects mentioned are notably the Trans-Saharan gas pipeline, the Trans-Saharan road and the strategic Trans-Saharan fiber-optic link, regarded as major projects to strengthen regional integration and exchanges between the two countries.

Algeria withdraws from Aresbank in Spain

Algeria withdraws from Aresbank in Spain

Algeria Gate: The Crédit Populaire d’Algérie (CPA) has sold its stake in the capital of Aresbank, a Spanish bank specialising in particular in the financing of international trade between Spain, North Africa and the Arab world. The operation, recorded at the end of July 2026, ends the Algerian presence in the capital of the Madrid-based institution.

The CPA’s holding was, however, very limited: the Algerian public bank held only 0.14% of the capital, against 99.86% for the Libyan Foreign Bank, also owned by the Libyan State. With this withdrawal, the Libyan bank thus becomes the sole shareholder of Aresbank.

A bank oriented towards international trade

Founded in 1975, Aresbank has specialised in international trade operations, particularly between Spain and Arab countries, as well as in interbank operations.

The institution is also posting improving results. In 2025, Aresbank recorded a profit of 16 million euros, up 21% year-on-year, while its loan portfolio reached approximately 733.3 million euros. The number of operations processed also rose by 25%.

The bank is currently pursuing an expansion strategy in Spain, with notably the recent opening of a branch in Valencia, in addition to its establishments in Madrid, Barcelona and Bilbao. It also plans to develop new products, particularly in the field of Islamic finance.

A withdrawal that comes in a particular context

The CPA’s decision comes at a time when relations between Algiers and Madrid are experiencing a phase of rapprochement after several years of diplomatic tensions.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez visited Algiers in July 2026 with the aim of relaunching cooperation between the two countries in several areas, notably energy, trade, investment and judicial cooperation.

The CPA’s withdrawal from Aresbank therefore does not signify a general disengagement by Algeria from Spain. It is above all an operation concerning a very minority stake in a bank whose control was already largely held by Libya.

With this disposal, Aresbank is now fully controlled by the Libyan Foreign Bank, while the CPA ends a presence in the capital that represented only 0.14%.
