Algeria marks International Workers’ Day this year as it reaps the benefits of a comprehensive reform process, embodied by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune through devotions that have placed citizens’ dignity and purchasing power at the heart of national priorities.

The celebration of this day is no longer merely a symbolic occasion; but has become a milestone for assessing a profound structural transformation in the social and professional system, reflected in successive wage increases and revisions to compensation schemes across various sectors, alongside tangible tax cuts aimed at raising net income and enhancing the living stability of Algerian families.
In a related context, the state has taken giant strides in strengthening the social safety net, raising the minimum pension to ensure a dignified life for retirees, while enhancing unemployment benefits as a key mechanism to preserve the dignity of young people and support them in the job market. These gains were not limited to financial aspects alone but extended to include legal and regulatory reforms that did justice to vital sectors such as education and health, reflecting the state’s belief that investment in human capital is the cornerstone of any genuine renaissance.
On the economic front, Algeria has succeeded in establishing the value of work and innovation as the driving force behind sustainable development. This is clearly reflected in the rise of a new generation of young entrepreneurs who have contributed to the creation of more than 13,000 startups, as well as the qualitative leap in the agricultural sector, supported by 15,000 new enterprises aimed at strengthening food sovereignty. These comprehensive achievements, which have been praised by international bodies, confirm that Algeria is moving steadily toward building a modern economy that values workers’ efforts and invests in the skills of young people to secure the future of coming generations.
