As part of his official visit to Spain, which began in Barcelona, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib, arrived in Alicante on April 30, 2026, where the city served as the second stop on his tour.

The visit was of a practical nature, as the official assessed the operations of the Algerian consulate, inspecting various administrative services and engaging directly with members of the Algerian community regarding their concerns and daily experiences. Following this tour, Chaib held an extensive meeting with members of the Algerian community residing in Alicante and neighboring areas, in the presence of Algeria’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain and the Algerian Consul in the city.

The meeting served as an opportunity to reaffirm the state’s commitment to ensuring the continuity of communication channels with its citizens abroad and to listening directly to their aspirations. In his remarks, the Secretary of State emphasized that the highest authorities prioritize continuously addressing the concerns of the national community abroad through practical, swift, and effective initiatives spanning various fields.

He also highlighted the efforts made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop and modernize the consular services system and to streamline administrative procedures, thereby facilitating the completion of transactions and reducing processing times.

The meeting also served as an opportunity to highlight initiatives aimed at strengthening the community’s ties with the homeland and ensuring their active participation in development processes, sending a clear message that Algeria considers its citizens abroad an integral part of its present and future.
