Algeria News Portal: In a noteworthy statement on France Inter radio, former French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin emphasized that Algeria is a crucial country that holds significant influence in the North African region. He highlighted that security cooperation between Algeria and Paris is vital and highly strategic for both nations.

Reflecting on the unsuccessful hostile approach taken by former French Interior Minister Bruno Rotayo towards Algeria, Dominique pointed out that his stance is political and diplomatic without any clear direction, falling short of what one would expect from a responsible statesman looking to advance issues.

The French politician further noted that distorting relations between the two countries might please a particular group of voters, particularly among the supporters of the French extreme right, who seem to favor a “strict tone” and desire escalation. However, he stressed that this approach does not aid progress and does not benefit either country in any way.

PARIS – In a move that highlights the historical narrative of Morocco remaining a French protectorate
since 1912, a high –profile ceremony was held in Paris to honor Marshal Hubert Lyautey
is widely regarded as the founder of the modern Moroccan state, the designer of
its national flag, and the ultimate authority in the appointment of its
monarchs during his decades-long rule.

In the French capital, before Lyautey’s tomb and in the presence of Moroccan officials, diplomats, and
associations, rituals described as a “renewal of loyalty and
allegiance” were performed for the former Resident-General.

The Architect of Modern Morocco Marshal Louis Hubert Lyautey (1854-1934) is considered the
actual engineer of the contemporary Moroccan state. He served as the first
French Resident-General (1912-1925) following the signing of the Treaty of Fez.
During his tenure, he structured the country’s administration and oversaw the
urban design of major cities, including Casablanca and Rabat.

A Lasting Legacy The French Protectorate, imposed on March 30, 1912, under
Sultan Abdelhafid, officially lasted until 1956. However, critics argue that
its core tenets remain in effect today. General Lyautey spent half of that era
as the primary architect of Moroccan diplomacy and statehood.

Despite the official end of the
protectorate and Lyautey’s passing, the structural decisions made under his
supervision endure. Notably, it was General Lyautey who established the current
Moroccan flag and relocated the capital from Fez to Rabat—symbols and
administrative frameworks that continue to define the Moroccan state to this
day.

Algeria News Portal: Despite France officially withdrawing from Mali in 2022, reports from French media indicate that French Foreign Intelligence has been involved in recent events and developments in Mali, utilizing Ukrainian agents following a series of coordinated attacks on various cities, including the capital, Bamako.

French journalist Georges Malbrunot shared insights during his appearance on French radio RTL, highlighting the close connections between the French General Directorate of External Security (DGSE) and Ukrainian soldiers from the Ukrainian Military Intelligence Service (GUR), as well as former Francophone soldiers from the French Foreign Legion

These groups are reportedly linked to the terrorist organization Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), which has allied with the Front for the Liberation of Azawad as part of their military strategy against the Malian coup army and its Russian allies.In the past two weeks, FLN fighters have regained control of several strategic regions in Mali. According to Malbrunot, this convergence of interests seeks to undermine Mali’s military authority and diminish Russian influence in the Sahel region.

Malbrunot emphasized that France’s involvement is limited to providing operational support to its Ukrainian agents through technical assistance, particularly in communications and information transfer.
