Algeria Celebrates Independence by Building the Future

Algeria gate : On the 64th anniversary of Independence Day and the restoration of national sovereignty, Algeria chose to celebrate in its own way: through construction rather than slogans, and through achievement rather than merely recalling the past.

On the occasion of July 5, President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune inaugurated and launched a series of strategic projects that touch various aspects of citizens’ lives and reflect the modern meaning of independence. In the field of digital sovereignty, he inaugurated the Algerian National Center for Digital Services in Mohammadia, a step aimed at strengthening the country’s digital independence and securing national data. In the healthcare secto

he also inaugurated the specialized hospital “Ammar Boujellab” in Mahelma, a modern medical facility dedicated to pediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery, enhancing the capacities of the national healthcare system and providing state of the art care for children.

In the field of housing and urban development, the President inaugurated the “Moudjahid Ahmed Taleb Ibrahimi” urban hub in Rahmania, which includes more than 10,000 AADL housing units. He also officially launched the 2026 national housing distribution program across the country, covering more than 179,000 housing units under various schemes. In addition, he inaugurated the new headquarters of the Ministry of Housing, Urban Planning and the City in Aïn Allah and signed its golden register, a symbolic gesture reflecting the importance of this sector in the nation’s development process.

At the same time, dozens of road projects were launched and put into service across several provinces, strengthening connectivity between regions and further driving economic and social development.

This is how Algeria commemorates its independence: not merely by celebrating the victories of the past, but by transforming independence into a continuous process of building, achievement, and sovereignty in the fields of healthcare, digital transformation, housing, and infrastructure. The martyrs restored the nation, and successive generations continue to build it. Thus, July 5 remains an occasion to renew the pledge that the truest tribute to their sacrifices is the construction of a strong, modern, and sovereign Algeria.

July 5, 1962: The Day Algeria Broke an Empire

Victory Written in the Blood of a Million and a Half Martyrs

https://twitter.com/ImpactMediaFR/status/2073749091759079625?s=20

On July 5, 1962, Algeria did not simply reclaim its sovereignty it handed one of the twentieth century’s most powerful colonial empires a defeat from which it never fully recovered. Seven and a half years of armed struggle, lit by a single spark on November 1, 1954, was enough to bury the colonial fiction of “French Algeria” for good.

This is not rhetoric. It is record. France committed its full military and political weight to keeping Algeria in chains and lost, broken by the unbending will of a people who paid for their freedom with more than a million and a half martyrs. That number is not a statistic; it is the measure of what this war actually was: not a colonial skirmish but an existential confrontation between a nation that refused to disappear and an empire that refused to accept its own death.

From Battlefield to “Mecca of Revolutionaries”

Independence did not close Algeria’s account with the world it opened a new one. Algiers became a global command center for liberation movements, arming and sheltering resistance fighters from Tunisia to Morocco and opening its doors to revolutionaries from Africa, Latin America, and Asia. The title “Mecca of Revolutionaries” was not handed to Algeria it was earned, forged in an uncompromising doctrine: no neutrality on liberation, no bargaining over a people’s right to self-determination

That doctrine is not history. It is policy. It is the same principle driving Algeria’s positions today on Western Sahara and Palestine. Algeria’s diplomatic posture was not invented in a briefing room it was inherited, intact, from July 5, 1962.

A Legacy That Demands Defense, Not Nostalgia

Independence was never a finish line it was the first chapter of a permanent obligation to defend sovereignty against every test that followed, from the Sand War to the diplomatic confrontations of the present. July 5 is not a date to be filed away in a museum. It is a standing mandate: every generation that inherits this freedom inherits the duty to defend it with the same resolve that won it.

A Child’s Innocence Defeated Their Fanaticism

A Child’s Innocence Defeated Their Fanaticism

They didn’t need a real reason. A jersey was enough.

ALGERIA GATE : AN Algerian MINOR boy walked toward Moroccan fans in the United States with nothing but goodwill and a smile, wanting to share in the joy of their World Cup qualification. What he got in return was a beating. Not a misunderstanding. Not a moment of tension. A deliberate, unprovoked assault on a child documented on video, confirmed by the victim himself.

https://twitter.com/algatedzEng/status/2072383734901252320?s=20

This is what blind fanaticism looks like when it’s handed a crowd: cowards in numbers, attacking a minor because his shirt offended their tribal ego. No sportsmanship. No decency. No basic humanity. Just the ugliest face of a fanbase that confused a football tournament with a battleground.

The bitter irony? That Algerian child understood football better than every single one of his attackers. He came to celebrate. Because for him, the game has no borders. Meanwhile, those who beat him proved that their loyalty to a flag is worth less than the flag itself.

Solidarity erupted online and it matters. But solidarity is not accountability. Assaulting a minor is a crime by every legal and moral standard, and the faces behind this attack should face consequences, not anonymity.

Football was not built for this. And that boy, by simply showing up to celebrate, played the sport with more class than his attackers ever will.
