Bloomberg: The UAE attempted to rally a joint military action against Iran but faced Saudi and Qatari rejection

In a striking article titled “The UAE Tried in Vain to Persuade Saudi Arabia to Coordinate on Iran Response,” Bloomberg reported that the UAE attempted to convince several neighboring countries, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, to participate in a coordinated military response against Iran during the recent US-Israeli aggression on the country. However, its request was met with rejection, leaving Abu Dhabi feeling “frustrated.”

According to the article, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed made a series of phone calls to regional leaders, including Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, shortly after the United States and Israel began bombing Iran on February 28, in an attempt to mobilize a unified regional stance against Tehran.

Informed sources told Bloomberg that the refusal of Riyadh and Doha to engage in any coordinated military action against Iran—stemming from regional fears of a widening military confrontation in the Middle East—ultimately pushed the UAE to act alone.

Field Commander “Al-Safana” Defects from RSF, Joining Sudanese Army Forces

Field Commander “Al-Safana” Defects from RSF, Joining Sudanese Army Forces

In a significant development reflecting growing internal fractures, Field Commander Ali Abdallah Rizqallah, widely known as Al-Safana, announced his defection from the Rapid Support Forces RSF militia. He declared his alignment with what he described as the will of the Sudanese people.

Al-Safana is regarded as one of the most prominent field commanders with the RSF having led key battles in Khartoum and El Fasher. His defection, along with his influential field force, represents a substantial moral and military blow to the organization.

This move comes just weeks after Commander Al-Noor Al-Qubba also announced his defection and joined the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). These consecutive shifts suggest a potential widening wave of desertions within the militia’s ranks, fueled by the prolonged conflict and escalating military and political pressure on the RSF.
